Why I love art...
I am a painter of the sun, both in the sky above us and the light within us. The sun gives us life. Without the sun, without the light within...there is no life and we need to honor and respect it.
I have always been inspired by the Impressionists...namely Monet and Manet, as well as Neo-Impressionist, Paul Signac. The colors just grabbed me the first time I played eyes on their works! The way they captured the light is stunning! I couldn't believe how those paintings stirred feelings so deep inside of me, and I knew that was what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to be able to elicit that type of reaction in people who viewed my paintings.
I also have been greatly inspired by M.C. Escher. I love all of the black and white images with, sometimes, dizzying perspective! He is a great inspiration for my black and white paintings.
Then there is Mary Cassatt, an artist who revered painting mothers and children. That is so near and dear to my heart because my children and grandchildren are my rays of sunshine! Last, but not least is current day watercolor artist, Antonio Masi. He is a master at painting the beautiful, iconic bridges of New York City. I fell in love with his work the first time I saw it because I love the colors and his perspective!
To me...paintings are stories without words that can be passed down from one generation to the next. There are times when viewing a painting that there are no words to describe what you are seeing, but the feelings that well up inside of you say more than any words could.
I paint to bring happiness and inspiration; stimulation and motivation. I paint to capture the essence of what we all have in us, and are sometimes afraid to experience. I paint to encourage freedom to express oneself and help them be a light for others. I paint to have fun and let loose! I want my viewers to have fun too when they view one of my works or attend one of my intuitive art workshops! Everyone has creativity within them...they just need to bring it out! Art changes the world!
